"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles" (Sun Tzu, The Art of War) - Day 43

It’s been a week since my last blog.
I missed my mid-week post because A and I drove up to the Blue Mountains on Thursday for a long weekend of trail running and bushwalking and, in my rush to get away, I forgot to pack my laptop.
No big deal. Peace and serenity!
It was marvelous being away without my principal work tool! I did take/ make a few calls and sent/ answered a few important emails. Everything non-essential was ignored. It is now Monday PM, and no one has nagged me for responses....
The weekend didn’t quite go out as planned. A wet weather system has been sitting over parts of New South Wales gifting us days of torrential rain.
It was a washout, and there is nothing more miserable than spending hours in wet and freezing fog tramping along washed out/ flooded trails. It is pretty stupid too.
Staying high and away from harm's way, I did manage a reasonable 90 mins trail run on Friday afternoon between the worst of the rain fall. I finished wet through and covered in mud. General vibe: type 2 fun.
The bulk of the weekend was spent in front of a roaring fire with a good book - City on Fire by Don Winslow, a riveting crime capper.
The big surprise of the weekend was how easy it was to while away the time without opening a bottle of wine. In fact, it didn’t even cross my mind! Despite the most optimal of settings- a comfortable sofa, a roaring fire, howling wind and driving rain battering the windows- I was quite content with hot tea- lots of it- and cake.
The other pleasing surprise is the inch lost around my belly, down to 39”. 1 down and 3 to go!
I am more than chuffed as these are big wins for me.
Whilst I expect a few struggles ahead, these wins have set me on my way and are for keeps.
