This is the closing scene of la Haine, when Hubert- one of the three main characters – describes falling from a building whilst repeating “so far I’m doing fine, it’s not the fall that’s important, it’s the landing”.
The film is a commentary about urban poverty, and much has been written about that scene.
The metaphor has zero relevance to my sober-curious experiment other than so far, so good, must not fall off the wagon- and even that is a stretch! It just sounds good in my head, and anyway, I am nowhere near falling off the wagon.

I am sleeping better, as in waking up fresh and earlier (with extra time to journal)- so that’s good!
The first test is the first weekend, and to get ahead of the challenge, I don’t have any social engagements. Making the most of the newfound early morning possibilities, all planned activities have a very early start….
