How is Newton’s Third Law of Motion relevant?
Alcohol clearly exerts a force on me, then I must exert a force of equal magnitude and in the opposite direction back on alcohol (without being a sanctimonious bore about it).
With Friday night ahead of me along with the weekend, my thoughts are turning to the type 1 fun stuff, and the cooler evenings as the nights draw in (and the smells coming from the kitchen where a 12h slow cooked shoulder of pork is resting),
I am having this discussion with myself:
My indulgent inner voice (in warm tone):
“…Red wine… mmmh…. Wouldn’t a bottle of St Jospeh or Morgon be just the ticket…. Maybe Morgon, slightly rounder….no one will know…you could only drink half and keep the rest to cook a stew….”
My sensible inner voice (the adult):
“There is non-alcoholic IPA in the fridge….”
Indulgent inner voice (annoyed):
“Yeah, I hear you- but the mouth feel- it’s thin- it’s missing something. I don’t really like them!”
My sensible inner voice (in a haughty patronising tone):
“That would be the alcohol”.
My indulgent inner voice (annoyed):
“I know that! You sanctimonious prick!”
Storms out and goes to the gym….
Me: 1 -Alcohol: 0 at half time with the whole of Saturday to go.
At least, I'm playing on home ground and the best player is yet to come off the bench: Sunday morning 16 km long run.
